Chorisia Speciosa?

Chorisia Speciosa, Perhaps?

I’m not sure of the exact name of this tree. I’ve seen a few around the greater L.A. area (La Canada and Camarillo) including this one on the grounds of the Norton Simon Museum. The tree stands out because of its bright green bark, spiky trunk, six-inch elongated pods, and huge cotton-like blooms.

I think it’s a Chorisia speciosa aka the floss silk tree. There’s an informative write-up by Rebecca Bonney, MEMBG Docent, at a UCLA web page.
